Assists with the inspection, sorting, and stacking of Food Room inventory by placing items on racks, shelves, or in bins. Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms. Cleaning the Food Room area, including floors, and maintaining a safe work environment. Assist clients by providing information on proper food preparation, handling, nutrition, and storage. Operates power jacks, forklifts, and other equipment to move product into and out of the Food Room in the routine handling of Food Room inventory. Assists with the maintenance of Food Room inventory and the maintenance and cleanliness of the Food Room at the direction of the Food Room Supervisor and in accordance with American’s Second Harvest and other applicable standards. Coordinates with volunteers to ensure that clients are served and the Food Room is well maintained. Weighs and records the amounts of food, produce, and Personal Hygiene Products given to each client. Uses computer to enter information into the Client Services data system. Serves as the “point if contact” in the Food Room; greets the clients upon their arrival in the Food Room, process their electronic referral and explains the process for their picking out their food allotment. Other duties as assigned by Food Room Team Leader and Division Director.
