About The Position

The Marker Machine Operator at the Marion, IL facility is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automated marker assembly equipment to produce high-quality ink markers in a safe and efficient manner. This role includes performing machine changeovers, monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting minor issues to minimize downtime, inspecting in-process and finished products for quality, replenishing materials, and packaging and labeling finished goods. The operator must have strong attention to detail, basic mechanical and computer skills, and the ability to follow standardized procedures in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adhering to all safety protocols and PPE requirements in a plant setting with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying conditions.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of marker components and assembly methods.
  • Minimum of one year experience of the operation and setup of production/manufacturing machinery.
  • Mathematical - Ability to apply concepts of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Reasoning Ability-Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram (visual) form.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit and type. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, push, pull, crawl, feel and grasp with hands and arms.
  • Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or a light amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate marker assembly machine.
  • Change machine setup for product changes using operator controls, adjustment points and computer interface.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, control panel and other operator indicators to ensure machine is working properly.
  • Monitor machine for malfunctions, clear the cause of machine stoppage and restart machine.
  • Monitor and examine finished and in-process markers for defects to ensure product quality.
  • Monitor and replenish component hoppers and bins to maintain adequate levels.
  • Package, box, and label finished markers and place on skid.
  • Responsible for machine clean up.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
