As owner and operator of the vessels, we provide skilled officers and crews dedicated to the safe, reliable, and economical operation of our fleet.       The Marine Standards Intern supports the Marine Standards department in the effective implementation of the company’s Management System. The Marine Standards Intern assists with general office, research, filing, and accounting duties as well. Additionally, the Intern will assist the Development and Advisory Services staff as well as outside vendors as required. We are looking for an intern to start in May 2026.  

Requirements

  • Work experience in shipping i.e. navigating or engineering is preferred.
  • Health / Safety / Environment / Quality background.
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the organization.
  • Have an open attitude for learning.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with quantitative analysis, and/or event management a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking, managing Safety management System document, uploads/withdrawals/changes.
  • Ongoing and new projects, update reports, conducts research, write and edit documents;
  • Event and meeting planning and administration of events;
  • Plan, Track and Manage various Audits/Inspections (VECP, Internal Audits and Investigations) managed by Marine Standards.
  • Coordinate, Manage and Track roving auditors travel plan;
  • Periodic reporting, updates and presentations relating to Marine Standards reports (Weekly Catch up, Monthly Near Miss, CSSF Data, BMT reports, EMS and OH& S targets)
  • Report distribution with the stakeholders and collate their feedback;
  • Communicating the initiatives and campaigns with vessel and shore staff and collate the feedback.
  • Newbuild projects by preparing CSR - (Templates) getting the forms filled in for each vessel, and SSP - (Templates) getting the forms filled in for each vessel;
  • Electronic Binder spines;
  • BNs- Bulkhead notices;
  • Planning for Town Hall;
  • Preparing expense reports and invoices.
  • Gain familiarity with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understand the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Become familiar with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework and Governance Policies.
  • Assisting with inputting data on various projects
