About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Manufacturing Technology Engineer (MTE) Intern to support our supply chain, sourcing, and procurement operations. As a MTE Intern, you will play an active role in driving supplier strategies, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring supply chain resilience for our eVTOL aircraft and peripheral systems. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, developing new and novel manufacturing processes across the entire aircraft structure. In this role, you will work and lead the development of cross-functional collaboration with the Engineering and Operations teams. You will help evaluate supplier performance, analyze industry trends, and support supplier development initiatives to ensure Joby’s supply chain operates at best-in-class efficiency, cost, and quality standards. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
  • Heading into Junior or Senior year of an undergraduate degree or above by the start of the internship.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Experience with DFM and industrial manufacturing processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Tableau, JIRA, or Confluence is a plus.
  • Prior internship or work experience in supply chain, procurement, or project management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support DFM processes—prepare, issue, and analyze supplier proposals to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering and Manufacturing) to identify and qualify suppliers for key components.
  • Assist with supplier selection, including NDAs and contract manufacturers assessment.
  • Conduct benchmarking and competitive analysis to ensure Joby’s commodity pricing meets industry-leading standards.
  • Work with suppliers to implement cost-reduction and value engineering initiatives.
  • Analyze industry trends, raw material pricing, and lead-time fluctuations to proactively identify supply risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize forecasting, demand planning, and material inventory analysis to optimize supply chain resilience.
  • Lead project tracking efforts, including Gantt charts, action trackers, and reporting dashboards.
  • Communicate supply chain updates, cost issues, and risk assessments to stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing supplier qualification plans, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
