About The Position

As a Manufacturing Technician at MOO, you’ll be part of the East Providence manufacturing team, focusing on preparing and configuring a range of machines for production and engineering trials. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Maintenance team to diagnose and resolve setup‑related issues that impact production. At the same time, the Maintenance team is responsible for managing equipment downtime, maintaining and improving process tooling, supporting the installation of new equipment and facility upgrades, coordinating with machine manufacturers on design or reliability concerns, and delivering training based on equipment performance and modifications. The Manufacturing Technician will ensure that equipment, workflows, and processes are properly set up, maintained, and operated so they run reliably and consistently across all operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain configuration integrity across presses and finishing equipment
  • Support operators with training, troubleshooting, and workflow understanding
  • Assist in preventive maintenance, validation testing, and quality checks
  • Reduce downtime caused by unreported or recurring operator issues
  • Enable the Engineering team to focus on long-term optimization and new initiatives
  • Enable the Maintenance team to focus on equipment downtime and condition
  • Ability to train operators in the field and document progress for accountability
  • Experience in manufacturing or production: You have hands-on experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, where you’ve followed established procedures, supported equipment setup, and helped ensure production targets are consistently met through rapid resolution of processing issues
  • Mechanical aptitude: You’re skilled in working with machines, tools, and mechanical systems. You can quickly diagnose setup issues, perform adjustments, troubleshoot both minor and major equipment problems with confidence, and know when to escalate or seek additional technical support
  • Attention to detail: You bring a sharp eye for precision, ensuring equipment is configured correctly, safety standards are met, and every setup supports high‑quality, reliable production output. You can identify and clearly communicate opportunities to improve equipment reliability or process efficiency based on your understanding of the operations and how they drive achievement of manufacturing goals
  • Communication: You are able to clearly communicate technical issues and procedures to others with a range of capabilities, including detailed explanations of issues to technical experts as part of troubleshooting and improvements, as well as simple explanations to non-technical resources to ensure problem resolution, effective corrective actions, and ongoing training

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in printing, finishing, or other equipment‑intensive production environments is a strong plus
  • Experience with automation systems, sensors, or basic PLC troubleshooting
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, or wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with Lean/5S or continuous improvement practices
  • Background working with conveyors, digital presses, finishing equipment, or other automated machinery
  • Experience using CMMS or preventive maintenance programs

Responsibilities

  • Digital Presses Validate color management profiles to prevent drift over time Check correct job orientations, exit configurations, and device specific settings Support operators by correcting setup issues before they affect production
  • Laminators Monitor and enforce consistent heat, tension, and speed settings Identify and escalate equipment issues often bypassed by workarounds Provide operator coaching on proper setup and techniques
  • Guillotines/Rotary Die Cutters/Slitters Maintain cutting programs across all units for consistency and accuracy Validate program changes and check that operators do not drift from validated processes
  • Folders Maintain standard fold settings and check proper configuration for job type Check that operators use correct presets and techniques to reduce waste and rework
  • Wide Format Presses Oversee maintenance routines and configuration settings Assist with operator training, color workflows, and issue identification Validate that equipment is performing to expected tolerances
  • Wide Format Cutting Equipment Check that routine maintenance and calibration/cut-validation testing are completed Assist operators with workflow setup and troubleshooting
  • Web Presses & Finishing Equipment Oversee maintenance routines and configuration settings Assist with operator training, color workflows, and issue identification Validate that equipment is performing to expected tolerances
  • Laser Systems Maintain consistent workflow configuration across all users Support operator training, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Engineering Trials Coordinate execution of trials as designed by Quality & Engineering team - materials readiness, labor scheduling, machine availability, test setup, run monitoring, and data collection
  • Manufacturing Support Work with Maintenance and Manufacturing on production lane setup and labeling Assist with best practice determination to set standard workflow Audit manufacturing operations and setups for needed support and follow-up training Document training and record competency of operators Provide ongoing operator training around specific equipment setup issues as they are resolved
