Headquartered in Camas, Washington, nLIGHT is a publicly listed company (NASDAQ: LASR). nLIGHT is seeking a MOCVD Technician to join our team at our Vancouver, Washington location. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the MOCVD reactors and assessment tools either directly or through the work of operators/technicians. This individual is accountable for ensuring that the quality of materials produced by the MOCVD tools meets the required specifications.

Requirements

  • Previous experience and/or training in equipment or automotive repair and maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience working in the semiconductor industry is desired but not required.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be dependable and reliable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong math skills, including basic algebra.
  • Ability to multitask with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills to perform data entry.
  • Must be committed to working safely and producing a quality product.
  • Ability to work overtime if required to meet output schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform duties in a cleanroom environment while using proper PPE at all times.
  • Ability to complete training and testing required to perform work while using an Air Supplied Respirator
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for 8-to-12-hour shift and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently use hands for repetitive actions and firm grasping.
  • Ability to work with and around chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in engineering, physics, materials, or chemistry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the effective operation of MOCVD wafer processes for manufacturing high power semiconductor lasers.
  • Organizes, cleans, and maintains workspaces and tools using the 5S process.
  • Cleans, repairs, and rebuilds parts and components.
  • Performs and documents preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Routinely handles, stores, delivers, tracks, and disposes of chemicals, gases, and hazardous waste.
  • Assists engineers and senior technicians with troubleshooting and reactive maintenance.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Monitors control of manufacturing processes through SPC.
  • Assists in the improvement and documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Calibrates, controls and helps troubleshoot MOCVD wafer processes.
  • Immediately reports process problems, safety issues, maintenance issues, and any other areas of concern to the appropriate personnel.
