About The Position

The Mechanical Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the mechanical assembly, integration, and testing of components and systems in support of LSINC’s engineering and manufacturing programs. This role supports prototype development, first article builds, and production hardware, working closely with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Quality to ensure products meet design and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly instructions
  • Experience using hand tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required
  • Manual dexterity for mechanical assembly tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting prototype or engineering builds
  • Familiarity with GD&T concepts
  • Experience working in regulated or government-contract manufacturing environments
  • Basic machining, fabrication, or shop experience

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components and systems using engineering drawings, CAD models, work instructions, and bills of material
  • Perform precision mechanical assembly, fastening, alignment, and fit-up of parts and subassemblies
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and basic shop equipment safely and effectively
  • Conduct mechanical inspections, measurements, and functional checks using calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and gauges
  • Support prototype builds, design iterations, and low-to-mid volume production runs
  • Identify fit, tolerance, or assembly issues and collaborate with Engineering on corrective actions
  • Follow established quality procedures and safety standards
  • Complete required production and build documentation accurately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to assembly processes and manufacturability
  • Comply with all company policies, including safety, quality, and government contract requirements
