YOUR OPPORTUNITY: The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola IL, is looking for a support, in manufacturing to join our team. HERE'S HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT: As a manufacturing team member, you will be required to differentiate different types of material and inspect all component parts meet our quality standards. At Herff Jones we may have been around for 100 years, but we still have the mentality of a scrappy startup. For you, that means your job may grow and change over time. But don’t worry, we would never ask an employee to take on an assignment they didn’t already have the right skill sets they needed to succeed. As we see it for right now, however, here are the challenges that we want you to tackle:
Requirements
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to take initiative
- Reading, writing and math skills commensurate with job duties.
- Will meet production and quality standards for this operation.
- Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential functions.
- Understand the steps of construction and quality standards.
- Safe and efficient use of a single needle and multi needle sewing machine.
- Must have the skills and experience to perform other sewing operations in the department.
- Perform all functions/tasks within the Manufacturing Department.
- Lift up to 90 lbs. multiple times a day.
- Bending, sitting or standing for 8 hours a day or longer during the busy season
- Job may require lifting to but not exceeding 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work all mandatory overtime
Responsibilities
- Assist with consolidating orders and distributing them to operators
- Consolidate WIP for assembly line throughout the day
- Assists with balancing final assembly line and support minor equipment repair.
- Work with all operators to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Assists in the training of new personnel.
- Assists in checking finished product quality to meet standards.
- Being able to multitask on your own with minimal direction
- Assist Lead in making sure material supplies are ordered on time
- Support the Lead to record production and scrap information
- Aids and assists Supervisor and Lead as needed.
