Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in custom tool and fixture design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Proficiency with toolroom equipment including manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, bandsaws, and general machine shop tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 80/20 T‑slot framing systems or similar modular construction methods.
  • Skilled in machining a range of materials including plastics, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, and tool steels.
  • Understanding of pneumatic components, systems, and associated safety considerations.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong safety mindset in both personal work practices and the design of tools and fixtures.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
  • Ability to write and execute CAM programs or G‑code for CNC mills, routers, and/or lathes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manufacture tooling, fixtures, and related components to support Operations and Engineering projects.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve existing production equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Enhance factory safety by fabricating machine guarding, enclosures, and other protective solutions that eliminate hazards and reduce ergonomic risks.
  • Perform rework on factory‑produced goods while maintaining strict adherence to tight tolerances.
  • Sharpen, maintain, and repair press dies used in stamping operations.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations Management, and Engineers to support troubleshooting efforts and provide both material cost and time estimates for project planning.
  • Work closely with Test, Process, Quality, and Design Engineering teams, contributing ideas for process improvements and project execution.
  • Monitor tooling performance and requirements to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency, applying a continuous improvement mindset.
