About The Position

The Manufacturing Sciences and Technology Manager provides technical and people leadership to support the manufacturing, scale-up, transfer, validation, and lifecycle management of cell culture media products. This role serves as a technical expert for media formulation, raw materials, and process robustness, ensuring reliable, compliant, and efficient GMP manufacturing. This role partners cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development, Engineering, and Regulatory to ensure robust, compliant, and efficient commercial and clinical production.

Requirements

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related field (higher education is a plus).
  • Experience Required: 6+ years of transferable manufacturing experience within a GMP environment.
  • 2+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
  • Experience in cell culture media formulation, raw materials or material sciences.
  • Hands-on experience with product commercialization, process transfer, validation and commercial manufacturing support.
  • Strong understanding of GMP requirements, regulatory and quality systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve sophisticated technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, risk-based decision making and clear communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Provide MSAT leadership across the full product lifecycle, including raw material strategy and qualification, manufacturing execution, product testing and other technical support.
  • Provide technical oversight for process transfers, scale-up and validation.
  • Act as primary technical escalation point for manufacturing deviations, process excursions, and atypical events.
  • Lead root cause investigations and define robust, data-driven CAPAs in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality.
  • Serve as a technical representative during customer interactions, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Drive process optimization, yield improvement, and waste reduction initiatives across media manufacturing operations.
  • Support implementation of new technologies, automation, and digital tools related to media manufacturing and raw material management.
  • Own material sciences strategy for cell culture media, including raw material characterization, variability assessment, and formulation risk management.
  • Evaluate the impact of raw material changes, supplier changes, and alternate sourcing on product quality and process performance.
  • Partner with Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Quality Assurance to support supplier qualification, material changes, and investigations.
  • Support material comparability studies and justification for regulatory filings and customer communication.
