Generate Sustained Profitability Position Summary The Manufacturing Safety Intern supports the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in promoting a safe and compliant workplace within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience with safety programs, audits, training, and incident prevention initiatives while gaining exposure to real-world manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Manufacturing, or a related field
- Strong interest in workplace safety and manufacturing operations
- Basic knowledge of OSHA or safety principles (coursework acceptable)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to walk manufacturing floors and wear required PPE
- Ability to lift up to [e.g., 25 lbs] if necessary
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship or coursework related to safety or manufacturing
- Familiarity with safety management systems or audits
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Assist with workplace safety inspections and hazard identification
- Support incident, near-miss, and injury investigations
- Help maintain safety documentation, records, and reports
- Participate in job safety analyses (JSAs) and risk assessments
- Assist with safety training materials and employee training sessions
- Support compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Track and analyze safety metrics (e.g., incident rates, audit findings)
- Participate in safety committee meetings and improvement projects
- Assist with PPE programs and safety signage updates
