Generate Sustained Profitability Position Summary The Manufacturing Safety Intern supports the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in promoting a safe and compliant workplace within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience with safety programs, audits, training, and incident prevention initiatives while gaining exposure to real-world manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • Strong interest in workplace safety and manufacturing operations
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA or safety principles (coursework acceptable)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to walk manufacturing floors and wear required PPE
  • Ability to lift up to [e.g., 25 lbs] if necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or coursework related to safety or manufacturing
  • Familiarity with safety management systems or audits
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with workplace safety inspections and hazard identification
  • Support incident, near-miss, and injury investigations
  • Help maintain safety documentation, records, and reports
  • Participate in job safety analyses (JSAs) and risk assessments
  • Assist with safety training materials and employee training sessions
  • Support compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Track and analyze safety metrics (e.g., incident rates, audit findings)
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and improvement projects
  • Assist with PPE programs and safety signage updates
