About The Position

The Manufacturing Quality Technician inspects products, materials, and processes to ensure they meet safety, quality, and specification standards, involving detailed checks, using specialized tools, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to resolve defects and drive continuous improvement, ensuring consistency from raw materials to finished goods. The role requires an individual with a blend of technical acumen, sharp judgment, and people skills. The Manufacturing Quality Technician will work at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon and reports to the Manufacturing Quality Engineer.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in a similar industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Knowledge of geometric, dimension, and tolerancing
  • Strong diligence and attention to detail
  • Integrity and confidence to stop nonconforming products
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with data, measurements, and procedures
  • Ability to read blueprints/specs, use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.), and understand manufacturing processes
  • Quality control inspection in a manufacturing environment performing visual inspections for defects (scratches, cracks, and misalignment of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods
  • Measurement experience and analysis
  • Measuring dimensions using physical/dimensional tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM’s.
  • Root cause analysis and quality tool experience
  • Nonconformance Control experience
  • Documentation and reporting experience (Effectively define and compose nonconformance reports)
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and industry standards
  • Bracketing and containment experience
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems and following company quality procedures, work instructions, and control plans
  • First Article Inspection experience
  • Experience verifying products and components meet engineering drawings and tolerances

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mathematics, or Physics
  • Certified Quality Inspector, Technician (CQI, CQT) or other quality certification

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and measurements on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products using calibrated tools
  • Accurately record inspection data, report defects, non-conformances, and trends, and maintain quality records
  • Observe production lines, check equipment functionality, and ensure adherence to procedures and standards
  • Work with production/engineering to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Perform basic calibration and maintenance on testing equipment and machinery
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and relevant regulations (i.e. ISO)
