About The Position

The Manufacturing Product Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the design and production of Rustica’s wood, metal, and home-related products. This role ensures new designs are manufacturable, current products are optimized for cost and quality, and production processes are safe, efficient, and scalable. The engineer will collaborate closely with design, production, and quality teams to turn ideas into durable, high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in product or manufacturing engineering (experience with wood/metal manufacturing a plus).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as woodworking, welding, machining, and finishing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work hands-on with production teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, build and R&D colleagues to ensure new product designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, bills of materials (BOMs), and product specifications.
  • Support the production floor by troubleshooting product and process issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing processes (woodworking, metal fabrication, finishing, and assembly).
  • Work with suppliers on material specifications, quality standards, and cost optimization.
  • Document and standardize production processes, including work instructions and quality checks.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, equipment, or technology to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in product and process design.
  • Collaborate with sales/marketing to translate customer needs into engineering solutions.
