The Ohio State University is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer for its one-of-a-kind Battery Cell Research and Demonstration (R&D) Center. This Center is managed and operated by Ohio State’s Institute for Materials and Manufacturing Research (IMR) within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge, reporting directly to the Battery Center Director. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for: Participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing processes, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the fabrication of high-quality battery cells. Developing, optimizing and maintaining manufacturing processes for the production of battery cells, including slurry mixing, coating, calendering, slitting, cell assembly, and testing. Conducting experiments and performs data analysis to evaluate process parameters and optimize efficiency, yield, and product quality. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and working closely with manager to implement solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Evaluating and selecting equipment and tools for battery cell processing and assembly. Coordinating equipment installation, commissioning, and validation activities. Developing and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and maintenance. Working closely with manager to develop and implement quality control measures and inspection protocols to ensure reliability and performance of battery cells. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders and project sponsors. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams including faculty, students, research scientists, engineers, technicians, and external partners to support project objectives and timelines. Participating in mentoring and training.
