About The Position

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for: The Manager of Manufacturing Operations will manage assembly, fabrication and Transition-to-Production operations for the Sub-Assembly, Assembly and Final Assembly areas of manufacturing production (e.g. mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, composite material fabrication and bonding, wiring, light machining coordination, light painting).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry wide practices and procedures in manufacturing.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Technical knowledge of composite structure processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically working with spreadsheets and analyzing large data outputs.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems. Experience in Oracle is desired.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial quality specifications (AS9100 Stds).
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts.
  • Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex specifications, drawings, procedures and schematics.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to problems.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Ability to effectively resolve manufacturing issues across organizations.
  • Leadership and training skills for a large team of assemblers and technicians.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex problems to upper management
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance as needed
  • Typically requires 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing or equivalent education or experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the job duties.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Oracle is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Management/Business is highly preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead various product assembly efforts, while resolving the most complex issues involving the manufacturing process.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering teams to mature product for key test events or prototype activities.
  • Manage product through all stages of assembly and test, through delivery to customer.
  • Manage the aesthetic appearance, maintenance of, and flow of product through the respective manufacturing areas.
  • Manage across boundaries to influence others.
  • Exert influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of their respective team.
  • Organize day-to-day operations and prioritization within assigned work area.
  • Responsible for defect reporting and interruptions to flow, with Root Cause and Corrective Action problem solving.
  • Develop, plan, organize and assign the workflow of a department (s) and ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop subordinate lead personnel through delegation of duties, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Represent assigned manufacturing areas at program operations meetings.
  • Responsible for staffing of their team to meet program needs, and the assessment and development of skills and certifications to meet demand requirements.
  • Interact with other managers and planners to support program priorities.
  • Recommend and justify capital equipment and tooling expenses required to meet departmental and program needs.
  • Perform administrative tasks including writing employee performance evaluations, analyzing training needs, and monitoring standard work practices in production.
  • Assist with writing procedures, forecasts and manpower plans, while assessing planned vs. actual performance standards.
  • Lead compliance and regulatory audits relevant to their work area.
  • Practice Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts.
