About The Position

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for an Manufacturing Operations Intern for our HLG (Hone, Lap, & Grind) value stream in our Burbank, CA location. As an intern at Crane Aerospace & Electronics, you will develop knowledge about the business through exposure to a functional area (such as manufacturing, engineering, and lean principles). You will focus on developing the skills necessary for success by assisting employees with day-to-day job assignments. You may be assigned to additional training or project work. The Company's internship program is intended to provide students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to practice business skills learned in school while gaining work experience.

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Physics. Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Must provide GPA, minimum accepted 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in a team environment
  • Must be project-oriented and be able to multi-task
  • Knowledge/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to fulfill a one quarter or semester internship commitment, 40 hours per week
  • This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Assumes Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineer for projects as assigned.
  • Coordinates with the representatives of Design Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, to plan and complete projects as assigned.
  • Provide support for process development and implementation of manufacturing work instructions, tooling, systems and process improvements, cell design and layout.
  • Work closely with Operations Team: Manufacturing Engineers, Production Supervisors, Buyer/Planners, Assemblers and Technicians, and with and cross functional members of the Integrated Product Team: Design Engineers, Program Managers, Quality, Supply Chain, and Business Managers.
  • Provide Operations Support for the New Product Introduction Process.
  • Assist in development of the lean manufacturing process for new products.
  • Support estimating and quoting activities for new products.
  • Perform quantitative analysis for capacity planning and cost comparison
  • Prepare, review and/or approve process routings, sketches, tool sheets, NC programs, and general process revisions.
  • Maintains and communicates an accurate accounting of project status.
  • The work output is expected to be consistent with Crane’s quality and manufacturing excellence goals and objectives.
  • May attend seminars, meetings, and Kaizen events.
  • Assist in creation of production cell layouts and workstation configurations.
  • Assist in coordination of material flow and part availability to support hardware deliveries.
