Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years manufacturing experience, including 3 years as a production manager/lead supervisor, preferably in the plastics/packaging industry
  • Secondary education preferred, Business, Engineering, or related field desirable
  • Experience analyzing production data
  • Solid understanding of Process Management, Inventory Control, and Quality
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Excellent problem-solving/root cause analysis skills
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management, organizational/time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and work within deadlines
  • Proficiency in applications such as MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Must have a "can do" attitude with a sense of urgency

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety-first culture in the workplace
  • Direct and coordinate production activities of all shifts
  • Certify Production Reporting accuracy into the system
  • Ensure production is equal to or better than standard.
  • Supervise and problem-solve operations and workflow issues, identify new and better ways to meet and improve output goals
  • Analyze data to uphold production metrics.
  • Identify, implement, and drive new procedures and processes.
  • Make certain production standards are always met.
  • Work to implement and maintain 5S practices.
  • Assist in training employees on all aspects of operations
  • Assist in sustaining Inventory accuracy to plant standards
  • Ensure consistent and timely communication with employees regarding production and quality goals and expectations
  • Assist in managing HR elements (employee/labor relations, workers compensation, performance management)
  • Drive and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives including Tier Boards, 5S and Kaizen Activities.
  • Participate in process support role of key manufacturing that led to better processes, quality, and savings.
  • Identify cost takeout opportunities through waste reduction, material substitutions, and equipment modifications.
  • Assist in generating reporting tools and progress reporting for assigned business area.
  • Communicate the status of Continuous improvement projects. This may include: progress reports, identifying barriers and recommended solutions, and integration with other projects or other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner in analyzing and recommending changes in technology
  • Develop an understanding of process standards such as: start-up and shut-down procedures, resin transitions, troubleshooting techniques, resin handling, machine standard operating conditions, Quality Assurance standards
  • Other duties as assigned and directed.
