About The Position

Microtech Knives is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Manager to oversee our machine shop operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the production of high precision knife components, ensuring topnotch quality, and driving continuous improvement. You will lead a skilled team of machinists, maintain advanced equipment, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while optimizing production workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably within a machine shop or similar environment.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, managing production schedules, and driving process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, equipment, and materials relevant to high precision knife production.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a focus on motivating and developing staff.
  • Solid understanding of quality control principles, safety regulations, and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficient in manufacturing software and tools for scheduling, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and performance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across different departments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily machine shop operations, including production scheduling, planning, and resource allocation for knife components.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of machinists and production staff to meet quality and performance targets.
  • Monitor production metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure all knife components meet Microtech’s rigorous quality standards and specifications.
  • Develop and enforce quality control procedures, conduct inspections, and address any quality issues with corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain and improve product quality and reliability.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of advanced machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and Microtech’s safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for equipment maintenance and workplace safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste, applying lean manufacturing principles where appropriate.
  • Analyze production data and trends to make informed decisions and adjustments to workflows.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing team.
  • Manage the manufacturing budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs, ensuring cost effective operations.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials and resources for production.
  • Prepare and present reports on production performance, budget adherence, and other key metrics to senior management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and other departments to align on production requirements and deadlines for new knife models.
  • Maintain open communication with team members, addressing concerns or issues promptly.
  • Represent the manufacturing department in meetings with management and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
