About The Position

Responsible for performing a wide variety of basic manufacturing operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies. Works on assignments that require judgment and has a role in decision making. Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to enable them to learn semi routine tasks. Will be required to assist in solving problems. Will be required to train less experienced manufacturing associates. Will be required to lead department or teams as an extension of the manager involving personnel issues.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience with technical insight on specific equipment or processes
  • Ability to follow written manufacturing instructions and general manufacturing designs/drawings/diagrams
  • Computer skills and use of computer programs/software specific to the manufacturing process, tracking and traceability of product
  • Understands processes and procedures and can recognize non-conformance or problems in production processes
  • Is involved in process improvement activities.
  • Fosters and maintain a high-level of teamwork and pride between all support groups to ensure customer commitments
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective listening skills
  • Must be able to facilitate effectively in team meetings, daily job assignments and problem resolution
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Typically requires 6+ years of prior manufacturing experience
  • Must be able to mentor or train peers
  • Must be able to communicate and support a team environment
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and support company policies
  • Requires visual acuity (visual ability to resolve fine detail) and manual dexterity (fine hand and finger movements)
  • Requires limited supervision for routine processes, can implement changes with detailed instruction
  • Must be available for overtime work
  • Must be able to stand for periods up to 4 hours
  • Must be able to lift at least 10lbs frequently; up to 35lbs occasionally, and heavier weights with assistance
  • Must be able to wear required safety protective equipment including but not limited to safety shoes and glasses
  • Must be able to work with or around chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Operate and certify on non-complex and complex operations within current process
  • In-depth knowledge of process within current department, along with processes that feed and receive the product
  • Flexibility to cross train and apply skills in other areas of the department
  • Achieve quality targets and drive improvements at certified processes
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on process/product issues
  • Informs management of recurring defects – variations to procedures
  • Accountable for individual results
  • Give direction and support work groups through strong leadership skills
  • Formal presentations on manufacturing activity to co-workers, support departments and management if needed.
  • Ensures manufacturing line is fully supplied to produce product and order supplies when applicable
  • Tracking of co-workers annual certifications
  • Establishes cross training targets for the department and assures targets are met
  • Assures zero workmanship errors within the process and assures process is operating within specifications
  • Recognizes and is proactive in defining most defects with minimal assistance and implements corrective action
  • Proactively informs management and manufacturing associates of recurring defects or potential process issues
  • Participate and pitch on-time delivery and identifies detractors
  • Provides work direction and training to others as requested
  • Adheres to established safety practices, environmental management and quality systems requirements
