About The Position

The right person for this position uses hands-on aerospace manufacturing knowledge, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to support and improve sheet metal and metal fabrication processes. This individual works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, repeatable, and compliant with aerospace standards—without sacrificing quality. You’ll spend significant time on the shop floor supporting production, troubleshooting issues, developing documentation, and helping implement process improvements. The individual chosen for this opportunity must be self-motivated, highly detailed, a strong team player, and comfortable working on multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Aerospace Manufacturing, or a related field (Equivalent aerospace manufacturing experience may be considered)
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on aerospace sheet metal and metal fabrication experience
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes including: Press brake forming and stretch forming CNC and manual machining TIG welding Riveting and aerospace fastening systems (solid rivets, blind fasteners)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
  • Experience working with tooling, quality engineering, and production teams
  • Experience working in a shop-floor manufacturing environment
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Ferco Aerospace will require proof of status prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102 (FAI), and OEM quality systems
  • Experience with tooling design for sheet metal forming and assembly
  • Experience working with aluminum, titanium, and nickel-based alloys
  • Trumpf press brake programming experience
  • Basic CAD experience (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on manufacturing support for aerospace sheet metal and metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, forming, machining, welding, fastening, and inspection
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process development, line layout, and tooling implementation
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation including work instructions, routers, travelers, and process specifications
  • Troubleshoot producibility, quality, and tooling issues directly on the shop floor
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action activities related to nonconformances
  • Support implementation of engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs)
  • Assist with tool and fixture design, fabrication, and validation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, and delivery
  • Train and support operators on new processes and workmanship standards
  • Create rework instructions to address quality issues identified by the Quality department
  • Create CNC programs for lasers, mills, marking machines, and press brakes
  • Complete any other projects or tasks as assigned by their direct supervisor
