About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join our John C. Nordt team in Roanoke. This is a hands-on role; you will not have to sit behind a desk! You will be responsible for evaluating existing and new manufacturing process equipment and systems; developing designs and making recommendations for improvements and enhancements; and leading projects involving production machinery, tooling, control systems and support apparatus, associated with the production of extruded/drawn mill products. Day shift Monday - Friday HVAC Climate-Controlled Work Environment

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant manufacturing experience
  • 4+ years industrial equipment maintenance experience
  • Advanced mechanical skills and ability with hand tools
  • Able to understand technical drawings and schematics
  • SolidWorks
  • G Code
  • Ability to schedule and manage projects
  • Able to design simple to complex machine components
  • Skilled in maintaining equipment and conducting root cause analysis
  • Track record of producing work that is highly accurate and demonstrates attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with vendors and employees of all levels
  • Technical Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Specialize in overall machine or system troubleshooting
  • Maintain models and drawings for production equipment
  • Specify, design, quote and/or provide cost estimate breakdowns for new or modified fixtures/production equipment
  • Install and commission new/modified production equipment
  • Perform or oversee electrical and mechanical upgrades and repairs on machinery
  • Create and maintain equipment operating manuals/work instructions, schematics and associated documentation
  • Communicate with vendors, equipment manufacturers, reps, and other industry experts on equipment implementation and installation
  • Train employees on equipment operations
  • Recommend spare parts inventories associated with production equipment
  • Support safety programs and keep workplace clean and safe
  • Prioritize work demands and manage time and workload effectively
  • Work collaboratively with others throughout the organization to achieve results
