About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Compression Systems Module Center (CSMC) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technical Manager to support the manufacture of disks, hubs and integrally bladed rotors used in Military and Commercial Engines in a dynamic and complex production environment. Manage a team of manufacturing engineers responsible for the manufacturing process planning activities needed to produce major rotor parts in one of the CSMC Business Units (BU) and the associated complex manufacturing value streams. Support the Mod Center's commitments to our customers, and setting and maintaining priorities for process planning, NC programming, process development and implementation of new processes and startup of new capital equipment that align with mod center goals and improvement targets. Understand the skills of the Manufacturing Engineering staff and lead proficiency growth by aligning individual needs with available formal and informal training, including OJT (on the job training). Drive the implementation of continuous improvement projects to achieve quality, part cost and delivery objectives for the BU. This includes the execution of the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and PPAP processes to mitigate process risks and achieve process certification for key product characteristics. Build relationships with all functions across the mod center to enable collaboration and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, machine shop, operations management, project management, quality or related industrial environment, or a Master’s degree and 7 or more years' experience in a similar field.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory/management/lead capacity.
  • Experience with machining of superalloys.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree (mechanical/manufacturing).
  • Machining IBRs and turbine disks.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt.
  • Manufacturing engineering leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with inspection methods, First Article Inspections (FAI), and nondestructive evaluation of materials.
  • Knowledge of special processes such as welding, heat treatment, complex coatings, and surface treatments.
