This is a first shift position working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off! The Product Introduction Facilities (PIF) pilot line located in Greenlawn, NY is responsible for the early builds of new electronic and optomechanical hardware designs. This includes the development and maturation of associated build processes, programming, tooling and documentation in preparation for full rate production. The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor leads the PIF team in the builds of prototype, Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD) and Special Testing Equipment (STE) hardware. The position requires close collaboration with product design teams, production teams to ensure the products are designed for manufacturability and successful transition to production. The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and the PIF are critical, unique and exciting roles that help BAE Systems support and satisfy our customers’ needs. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 4 years work experience
  • Manufacturing and production execution experience
  • Experience in people management or mentoring
  • Experience in implementing process improvements
  • Ability to read and use technical drawings, schematics, wire lists, process sheets and change orders.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel at all levels, suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret level security clearance
  • Prior New Product Introduction experience / Design or early lifecycle development experience.
  • Six Sigma, Green or Black belt.
  • Prior manufacturing leadership experience to independently manage a mixed model production environment including assembly, integration and testing
  • Experience in US defense industry manufacturing operations is highly desirable for this position
  • Demonstrated experience in implement

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of manufacturing execution and engagement with PIF employees as well as cross-functional team members to ensure builds are aligned with program milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Provides people management leadership to the PIF personnel by coaching and developing direct reports. Ensures the PIF team members have the necessary training. Fully participates in the performance development process. Identifies and resolves performance problems. Provides guidance on labor charging and company policies and procedures.
  • Develops staffing plans, supports hiring actions to build and grow the team.
  • Serves as the focal point to communicate and resolve issues within the PIF and serves as the point of contact for PIF work requests. Coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary to ensure commitments are achieved. Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.
  • Timely reports on the WIP status and proactively engages with cross-functional team members to address build issues and drives solutions to meet commitments.
  • Identifies errors and supports the New Product Introduction Engineering team develop and initiate corrective actions. Supports corrective action reviews and participates in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Supports the development of work instructions, routings, standards, and other production documentation.
  • Supports the identification and development of tooling and other NRE efforts requirements for the effective deployment of new products.
  • Supports the development of new processes to achieve efficient new product production.
  • Supports root cause and corrective action development and implementation.
