Manufacturing Engineering Summer Intern | Xylem 🕒 Schedule: Onsite Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM If you’re an engineering student who enjoys problem‑solving, process improvement, and hands‑on manufacturing exposure, this internship was designed for you. As a Manufacturing Engineering Process Improvement Intern, you’ll work side‑by‑side with manufacturing engineers and cross‑functional teams to standardize processes, improve efficiency, and support production operations. Your work will directly contribute to smarter, more sustainable manufacturing — supporting Xylem’s mission to solve water challenges around the globe. This is more than an internship. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary university program (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and work independently
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
  • Comfortable explaining technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to follow tasks through to completion

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic networking

Responsibilities

  • Participating in meetings and design reviews for existing products
  • Evaluating fixtures, tools, and equipment with Manufacturing Engineering to recommend improvements or replacements
  • Reading and translating mechanical drawings into standardized processes
  • Creating manufacturing processes and test plans in a standard YSI format
  • Assisting with production process issues and continuous improvement efforts
  • Collaborating with R&D, operations, quality, and project managers to clarify process constraints
  • Evaluating work cells for process flow, capacity, equipment, and efficiency optimization
  • Managing label design, documentation, and implementation
  • Supporting efforts to transition existing procedures into consistent, standardized formats
