Position Overview: Join our manufacturing engineering team at our M ontgomery, IL location as an intern and gain hands-on experience supporting engineering, tool room, and maintenance departments. You’ll coordinate with engineers to create tool drawings, participate in continuous improvement projects, collect and process project data, and interact with multiple disciplines across the organization.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable using engineering and office software (e.g., Excel, CAD, data analysis tools).
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and basic CAM/CNC concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the engineering team to create and maintain tool drawings and prototype parts.
  • Develop, review, and maintain process routings to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes, setups, fixtures, and cycle times; provide training and floor support as needed.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and test machinery and equipment for process implementation and capability.
  • Support CNC machines with programming, troubleshooting, and DNC library management.
  • Apply lean manufacturing concepts when developing processing methods.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering, clerical, and design software for analysis and layout tasks.
  • Organize and maintain records documenting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Present project proposals to stakeholders and assist with design and fabrication of prototype parts.
  • Assist the tool room with part and tool machining as required.
