About The Position

Under the mentorship of the Manufacturing Engineering team, evaluate solutions for a robotic soldering application including feasibility, sourcing, validation, and qualification.

Requirements

  • Experience with PC based Word, Excel, Power Point, and Solid Works
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the field of Engineering with interest in automation and robotics
  • Good academic standing
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Rising Junior or Senior in a degree program for Bachelor of Science degree (B.S) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical, Robotics, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • The employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience in a real-world manufacturing environment to apply knowledge learned in the classroom.
  • Gain experience in printed circuit board manufacturing, analyzing SPC data, and procuring engineering materials.
  • With guidance from the manufacturing engineering team, automate manual soldering processes using robotics and considering cycle time, quality, space requirements, equipment layout, and workflow.
  • Develop troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Understand how to calculate and improve production efficiencies
  • Reduce downtime associated with 8 wastes
  • Gain experience interfacing with an ERP system
  • Participate in a Kaizen event to ensure continuous process improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with interns from other disciplines including Robotic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials, and Continuous Improvement.
