About The Position

Lockheed Martin is staffing the role of Manufacturing Engineering Manager for the F-35 Center Wing Team and Horizontal Tail / Vertical Tail (HT/VT) Finishes. This team enables process improvements to reduce cost and enable build rate, constraint resolution, corrective actions, and integration of design changes in the build. The Center Wing is one quarter of the F-35’s fuselage and the aircraft’s largest single component. The HT/VT’s Finishes are robotically applied, state of the art coatings. These components are built at our Marietta, Georgia facility by +300 mechanics. What You Will Be Doing The primary roles and responsibilities are: A) Leadership of a team of 15-20 Manufacturing Engineers that own the manufacturing plan and tooling for the build. 1. Developing the team’s strategy and tactical focus 2. Driving innovation in the team’s standard work with evolving technologies 3. Creating and communicating goals 4. Motivating and evaluating team member performance 5. Hiring, developing, and sustaining team members. B) Collaborating with the production build team leaders and peers in planning, quality engineering, quality assurance, design engineering, MRB engineering, production control, and ManTech to establish, enable and execute on our collective technical, quality, cost and schedule goals. C) Ensuring proactive communication on major projects and issues and corrective actions from the ME team. D) Managing budgets for assigned personnel along with other discrete projects to the required targets. Requirements

  • College degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience in aerospace production, tooling and assembly processes
  • Experience in Project Management and decision making
  • Experience in Root Cause and Corrective Action methods

Nice To Haves

  • BS &/or MS in a technical field from an accredited institution &/or equivalent experience
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience working in Mfg Execution Systems (MES), Non-Conformance Systems, Corrective Action Systems and Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Knowledge of F-35 production line practices and requirements
  • Experience building and managing teams, meeting goals, and/or setting goals.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) familiarity
