About The Position

To lead, manage, and provide direction to the Manufacturing Engineering Department supporting new product introduction, current product evolution, and ongoing process effectiveness. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will provide inspirational leadership to skilled manufacturing engineers (Machining, Welding, Assembly, Test, Piping, Electrical), make work educational, and build authentic learning communities to create, develop, implement, optimize and maintain routings, tooling/fixtures, process instructions/standardized work, CNC programs and labor standards for high reliability low volume/high mix diesel engine products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or at least 5 years of Manufacturing Management Experience and/or at least 8 years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Experience of up to 3 years in (5) axis CNC programming and machining of complex surfaces.
  • Experience with new product launches.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Projects.
  • Experience working with an ERP system such as Oracle or SAP is desired.
  • Experience in Solid Works, Esprit, and Mastercam are a plus.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities.
  • Continuous learner who seeks new information and displays passion for learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Align Manufacturing Engineering personnel and financial resources to support business objectives.
  • Attend major contract meetings for development of processes, tooling, fixtures, setups and schedules.
  • Responsible for annual budget submission.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to support current, new and existing fabrication, machining and assembly equipment providing justification for capital requests (CARs).
  • Develop and execute capital equipment roadmap to support both business growth and existing business.
  • Coordinate execution of manufacturing schedules and priorities to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain and improve all manufacturing processes and related metrics including production efficiency, cycle times, capacity, capabilities and others as needed to provide data for costing.
  • Responsible for resource planning both from staffing and equipment perspective.
  • Ensure quality system standards are met and maintained during the manufacturing process.
  • Lead with and without authority, model the way, encourage the heart, challenge the process, enable others to act, and inspire a shared vision.
  • Drive cross functional teams in continuous improvement activities, implementing methods, practices, and techniques to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for enhancements of quality and throughput, using probes and robots to improve welding, burring, material handling, and machining operations.
  • Provide support in production departments to troubleshoot and resolve production problems on parts written up for nonconformance reports (NCR's).
  • Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, environmental safety and health regulations and manufacturing practices in providing a safe work environment.
