About The Position

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our dynamic operations team in Tempe, AZ! This Manufacturing Engineering Intern will help bridge the gap between ambitious concepts and high-performance reality. In this role, you’ll learn about and support developing innovative manufacturing solutions for complex electronics, supporting products from their first prototype to full-scale production. If you are a data-driven problem solver who thrives on lean principles and 'outside-the-box' process optimization, we want you on our team to help us build the future of hardware.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
  • You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:
  • Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026
  • Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship
  • Interest in learning and/or pre-existing understanding of/experience with Manufacturing Processes

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for work instructions

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative manufacturing solutions for complex electronics hardware, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with design, engineering, and program management teams to bring cutting-edge products from concept to reality.
  • Utilize your problem-solving skills to think outside the box and address manufacturing challenges with creative and effective solutions.
  • Support the entire product lifecycle, from prototype development through to full-scale production, ensuring seamless transitions and robust product performance.
  • Drive productivity and efficiency improvements through data-driven analysis and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by spearheading process optimization initiatives and adopting state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques
