About The Position

Space Kinetic is a cleared, venture-backed startup focused on addressing urgent national security priorities, aiming to deliver asymmetric capabilities for space superiority and missile defense using a proprietary electromechanical deployment system. The company is currently assembling its TRL-5 prototype with a goal to provide a new tool for securing the space domain and catalyzing the emerging space economy. As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with design engineers to enhance component designs for additive manufacturing. Your role will involve managing parts throughout the AM workflow, from material selection and Design of Experiments (DoE) to part fabrication and final delivery. You will also be responsible for establishing and documenting AM processes that adhere to aerospace quality standards. This internship offers an opportunity to support the Engineering team in designing and building prototypes for Space Kinetic’s core technology, contributing to the mission of achieving a flight demonstration within the next two years in a fast-paced startup environment. This is a paid internship with both full and part-time employment opportunities available, offered within a rolling start and end timeframe.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled for a Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must be a recent college graduate OR graduate within the last semester of your program
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and electrical skills are required

  • Knowledge and experience with CAD and AM data preparations software (e.g. SolidWorks, Magics, ANSYS Additive Print, etc.)
