About The Position

The Engineering Intern (Manufacturing) supports the Engineering Department with hands-on manufacturing and process engineering activities within a regulated medical device environment. This role assists with injection molding process development, equipment support, data collection, and analysis, validation activities, troubleshooting, inspection, CAD projects, fixture design, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern collaborates with engineers, technicians, and production personnel to enhance equipment performance, process consistency, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM field
  • Interest in manufacturing, injection molding, automation, or process improvement
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding experience is a plus)
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, procedures, and work instructions in a regulated environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to develop hands-on troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with metrology tools and basic inspection methods
  • CAD proficiency required (SolidWorks and 3D printing experience preferred)
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and design for manufacturability principles
  • Good organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to support troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement activities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 30-50 lbs
  • Requires good vision, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity for working with small parts and tools
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach as needed
  • May be required to work in a Class 8 cleanroom environment, following gowning and contamination control procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with basic problem-solving methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) is a plus
  • Knowledge of risk management tools such as FMEA is a plus
  • CAD proficiency required (SolidWorks and 3D printing experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis for process improvement is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and industrial components is a plus

Benefits

  • Sick Time- Accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.
