About The Position

Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing and optimizing existing facility infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you’ll be in the middle of the action, designing, building, and optimizing the processes that bring our robots to life. Working alongside our engineering and production teams, you’ll gain real-world experience in fixture and process design, lab management, and process documentation. Expect to tackle fast-paced challenges, problem-solve on the fly, and make a tangible impact on production efficiency and quality. Onsite position located at our Wilmington, MA headquarters, requiring five (5) days per week onsite. Only local candidates will be considered. Internship period is May–August 2026, during standard business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET).

Requirements

  • Ability to work onsite (Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm) for 2026 Summer internship period (May - August).
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (rising junior or senior) pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience using CAD applications such as SolidWorks or Creo for solid modeling and drawing interpretation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve production and assembly issues
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in a product-based electromechanical environment is preferred; hands-on experience through academic labs or project work will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support NPI builds of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including process development, documentation, and validation activities.
  • Assist in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and test setups to support assembly operations and process controls.
  • Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams to procure components and materials for fixture and test equipment builds.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes using lean methodologies.
  • Maintain documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS), including ECOs, validations, and related records.
