About The Position

We are currently looking for a co-op to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in our Westborough, MA office (note: Olympus does not provide relocation assistance or stipends). This 6-month assignment will run July - December 2026. This is a full-time opportunity involving 35-40 hours per week at an hourly payrate of $28.50. Experiences that grow you—and your career. As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op, you will contribute to our mission by working with the teams responsible for delivering medical products to market. Olympus Surgical Technologies America is a business casual, team-oriented atmosphere. Products are developed and managed from Westborough, but manufacturing is performed at other locations. Therefore, multi-site discussions via conference calls are required for communication and product manufacturing development. The co-op’s project work will be directed by the Manufacturing Engineer and will contribute to the efforts of the team.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Preferred fields of study include Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must complete freshman year before the internship begins and graduate after the internship ends.
  • Must not now or in the future require immigration-related sponsorship.
  • Olympus policy is not to provide immigration-related sponsorship for internships, Fellows programs and other entry-level roles that are fed by the internship program. Accordingly, Olympus discourages applicants for such positions who will, either now or in the future, require Olympus sponsorship in order to obtain or maintain lawful employment authorization.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.).
  • Basic engineering knowledge, including mathematical skills in Calculus and Physics.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient and have practical knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well within a team and independently at times with limited guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of prototyping process.
  • Experience with data analysis software.
  • Experience with root cause analyses.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize/execute multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • Skilled in presentation development and public speaking.
  • General curiosity and a desire to learn new material.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and modifying designs/drawings utilizing SolidWorks
  • Testing prototype devices for functionality
  • Supporting manufacturing with failure analysis
  • Testing competitive products
  • Working in the lab, summarizing data, performing tests, and writing technical reports
  • Participating and collaborating in team meetings and updates.
