Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, works on plans to utilize personnel, facilities, machinery and equipment to achieve the desired quality and quantity of production at the most favorable cost. Position Summary: Develops and improves production processes. Works with production staff to identify opportunities for improvement, which may include “bottlenecks” in the process or methods and machines that are not producing quality work. Studies existing fixtures and develops design modifications to improve accuracy and efficiency. Designs new fixtures for plant processes and upgrades of current machines to improve quality and efficiency. Develops cost/benefit analysis and layout for future purchases of machinery or development of new work cells in response to anticipated production capacity needs, writing proposals for capital improvements. Prepares cost estimates for given products by analyzing the production process and costing each step, providing information to be used by corporate engineering and sales staff for proposals and product pricing. Designs the manufacturing process for new parts or products and maintains process documentation when modifications to existing processes are made. Designs the manufacturing process for new parts by breaking down the process into steps, placing steps in the correct sequence, and assigning the process to the most efficient available machine or cell. Writes and reviews engineering change requests (ECO’s) to determine whether proposed changes require process modifications and either recommends that the change be approved or recommends that the ECO not be approved based on lack of feasibility, excessive cost, assembly or other manufacturing issues. Works with supervisors to train production staff in the use of new or updated methods. Provides direct problem-solving support to the production and quality functions. Troubleshoots and solves problems for assembly, machining, quality control, and specific areas of production. Assist with the use of quality tools such as statistical process control, product evaluation forms, inspection reports, software, etc., answering questions and helping production workers with development of proper technique . Works with purchasing department to troubleshoot problems associated with existing suppliers and to evaluate potential suppliers of Nexen components and outside processes.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Management or related Engineering field.
2+ years of related manufacturing experience.
Requires excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting demands.
Must have the ability to report daily to the Webster, WI Nexen Facility
