About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is the technical point of contact for the manufacturing of energetic and non-energetic devices at the Mesa, Arizona facility. The ME will act as the liaison between Program Management, Supply Chain, Planning, and Product Engineering ensuring continued product success.  The position will provide technical engineering support for new and continuing production.  The ME will be the technical owner of the process including work instructions, equipment, tooling, and other facility requirements.  The ME will be responsible for continuous improvement projects, training operations staff, and general production line support.

Requirements

  • Able to work weekend shift Friday through Sunday 12hrs/day with pay for 40 hrs.
  • BS/MS in Engineering discipline or Physics.
  • 2-5 years of industry-relevant experience is preferred, though others will be considered.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  • 3D solid modeling experience.
  • Experience designing, installing, and qualifying production equipment including hand tools, fixture, and semi-automated equipment.
  • Proficiency at authoring technical documents such as test plans, test reports, manufacturing procedures, and project reports.
  • Hands on experience with troubleshooting assembly equipment and fixturing.
  • Basic understanding and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA)
  • Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the production process and assuring an efficient production process
  • Provides hands-on support for manufacturing assembly of company products.
  • Provide training to operations team.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and / or systems for methods to improve performance, efficiency, reliability and propose recommendations.
  • Background in lean manufacturing with line organization and work instructions.
  • Technical writing.
  • Understanding and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA).
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with critical assembly operations (PFMEA).
  • Author process plans, standard manufacturing processes, test plans, and test reports.
  • Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process
  • Maintain equipment and tooling through coordination with maintenance team.
  • Identify and champion IR&D and continuous improvement projects
  • Coordinate and perform all necessary validation and / or process engineering evaluations as needed for manufacturing equipment.
