About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with all functional groups to develop robust, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes and related documentation for use throughout the manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for complete process ownership and support of the assigned manufacturing or assembly area, interfacing with other functional groups as required, and resolving issues with effective corrective actions.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering and minimum 3 to 5 years related experience or combination of education and experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, examples of which are below:
  • Experience with part/product qualification, emphasis on developing functional testing for PCBA.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting electrical schematics, component troubleshooting.
  • Experience programming Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for automating acceptance testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • PDM such as Enterprise ERP systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with opto-electronic design and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with fixturing and test of laser diodes a plus!
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing methods.
  • Experienced in Design for Manufacture (DFM) techniques.
  • Experience with adherence to MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-882D.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and/or specifies equipment necessary to support manufacturing processes.
  • Develops and implements new manufacturing techniques as business requirements dictate.
  • Serves as primary technical support to the Production process.
  • Interprets and explains work instructions, specifications, and the use of manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Confers with factory personnel and department supervisors to resolve assembly problems.
  • Organizes and participates in continuous improvement projects, with respect to product manufacturability.
  • Performs root cause analysis of non-conforming parts and product.
  • Maintains Bill-of-Materials (BOM): drafting assembly detail drawings and approving document change orders.
  • Develops standard structures and routings, including labor standards and make/buy recommendations.
  • Creates assembly documentation for manufacturing products to both internal and customer specifications.
  • Collects and analyzes data to implement effective corrective actions for procedural, product, process, or design deficiencies.
  • Participates the Product Design process to develop new product ideas with respect to the most optimized, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Performs industrial engineering tasks, as required, such as work center / cell development and layout to improve product workflow and decrease lead time / cost / standard times.
