About The Position

Emerald Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer with strong MIL-SPEC cable and harness experience to support and scale our Advanced Manufacturing Cell (AMC). This role is responsible for defining, validating, and improving manufacturing processes for aerospace and defense programs, ensuring repeatability, compliance, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with technicians, engineering, and quality teams to translate complex requirements into controlled, executable shop-floor processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or defense cable & harness manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of MIL-SPEC connector systems (Glenair, D38999, M85049/88, MIL-C-26482, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 3) workmanship standards.
  • Experience working in AS9100 / ISO 9001 regulated environments.
  • Proficient in interpreting wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and controlled documentation.
  • Familiarity with crimp tooling standards (DMC MH860, M22520 series, banding tools).
  • Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor to support process execution.
  • Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (Specialist or Trainer).
  • Experience supporting defense programs with strict traceability and documentation requirements.
  • Background in process validation, standard work development, or NPI support.
  • Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes for MIL-SPEC cable and harness assemblies.
  • Define standard work, work instructions, travelers, and process flows aligned to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 and AS9100D requirements.
  • Support first article builds, process validation, and transition from prototype to production.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure traceability, configuration control, and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Program Management to ensure build-to-print execution and clear interpretation of drawings, connector tables, and specifications.
  • Identify and drive process improvements related to yield, rework reduction, throughput, and quality escapes.
  • Support tooling selection and validation (crimp tools, banding tools, fixtures, harness boards, etc.).
  • Establish best practices for MIL-SPEC connector assembly (Glenair, D38999, M85049 backshells, strain relief, banding, etc.).
  • Provide technical guidance and training support to supervisors, leads, and technicians.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions (NCMRs, escapes, process deviations).

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and growth opportunities.
