About The Position

Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth. With Pulsar – the world’s most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit – Xona will offer a future-proof, backwards-compatible global positioning system optimized for absolute precision, superior power, and robust protection. Xona Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of the digital and physical processes that build the next generation of satellite navigation. In this role, you will be the bridge between engineering design and production reality. You will not just "support" the line; you will own the process of it. We are looking for an engineer who is equally comfortable configuring logic in our MES, calculating Cpk values and getting hands-on to troubleshoot mechanical integration issues on the floor.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of direct manufacturing engineering experience in high-reliability industries (Space, Aviation, Medical Device, or Automotive).
  • You must be able to demonstrate experience with Root Cause Analysis (Fishbone/5-Why), GR&R, and Process Capability (Cpk).
  • Strong experience configuring work instructions, MES and managing MBOMs in an ERP environment.
  • For U.S. Roles: To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e. Green Card holder), or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
  • For U.K. Roles: To comply with U.K. regulations, this role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks, and successful candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
  • For Canada Roles: Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience taking a product from NPI (New Product Introduction) to Rate Production (>2 units/week).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality environments.
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles and practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on experience with machines, tools and understand complex assembly practices.

Responsibilities

  • System Architecture: Serve as the primary architect for our manufacturing execution system. You will build complex logic, conditional workflows, and error-proofing steps—not just static instructions.
  • Traceability Gatekeeper: Drive strict configuration control. You will manage the flow of ECRs/ECOs into the production floor, ensuring our "As-Built" records are audit-ready and 100% accurate.
  • Production Tools & Assets: Manage the Manufacturing Asset/Inventory database, ensuring tool calibration and tracking are integrated into the workflow.
  • Proactive Risk Management: You will own the PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) lifecycle. You are responsible for identifying failure modes before they stop the line.
  • Validation: Plan and execute Gage R&R studies to qualify new test equipment and fixtures.
  • Stability Metrics: Generate and analyze Cpk/Ppk reports for critical processes (especially integration & functional test) to prove process stability to leadership.
  • The "Voice of Manufacturing": Represent the production team in design reviews with structural, GNC, payload and power engineering teams.
  • DFM: Provide data-driven feedback on tolerances and assembly constraints. Your job is to ensure that what Engineering designs can actually be built at rate with high yield.
