The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing improved methods of manufacturing, procedures, and processes which result in improved efficiencies, yields, machine operations, and quality. Designs, develops, and manages sustaining engineering projects. Coordinates with all departments to ensure smooth production startup. Provides engineering support for existing products. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in mechanical engineering or industrial technology; or Three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office software and Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Must be able to lift, stoop, kneel, walk, and have fine motor coordination sufficient to manipulate small objects.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally carry that weight for short distances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with composite manufacturing or plastic injection molding/extrusion a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Improve and simplify existing manufacturing processes by working with cross-functional teams focusing on Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Improvements.
  • Work directly with manufacturing departments and plant management and develop business justifications and specifications for capital equipment expenditures as required.
  • Designs and develops products, and generates documentation as needed.
  • Investigate new materials as well as new manufacturing techniques.
  • Makes decisions on technical matters related to product design.
  • Plans, schedules, and manages small product development projects.
  • Provides inter/intradepartmental communication and information relating to new products, process improvement and manufacturing projects.
  • Develops cost estimates for projects and products.
  • Generates quality systems and project related documentation as needed. (i.e., DHF documents, work orders, charters).
  • Understands and follows engineering related and overall company processes.
  • Work with strategic sourcing and quality engineering to identify and qualify cost-effective and reliable suppliers. These suppliers will support product and process requirements including raw materials, components, finished product, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing systems.
  • Aids with material selection and required processing including injection molding, cutting, sealing, bonding, punching, die-cutting, configuring, sterile packaging, biocompatibility, mechanical integrity, shelf life and chemical resistance.
  • Works with quality engineering as required to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains intellectual command of current materials, manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Supports a company-wide commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest level of quality, customer responsiveness, and on time delivery as measured by our clients.
  • Serves as a member of the Engineering Team charged with responsibility for process and product improvements.
  • Attends all relevant training and keeps abreast of relevant developments in technology.
  • Participates in clinical evaluations.
