About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will primarily focus on the manufacturing processes within generator manufacturing. Responsible for departmental operations, ownership over methods, planning/execution of the generator product line and procurement of necessary tooling. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university / college and 2 years of manufacturing experience in a technical role OR high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years manufacturing experience in a technical role.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to work 2nd Shift hours 3pm-11pm.
  • This position is 100% onsite at the GE factory in Schenectady, NY.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an industrialized setting with large scale manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, design drawings or process specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a manufacturing expert for Generator Winding in GE Vernova's Generator manufacturing operation in Schenectady NY.
  • Define and control production processes; including tooling and equipment to be used in the winding process.
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment and processes.
  • Work with the shop to develop manufacturing methods, schedules, and documentation for improvements.
  • Identify and execute projects to improve safety, quality, existing processes and lower cost within the shop.
  • Provide documentation and training to shop floor to ensure seamless new product or process execution.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Lead projects in manufacturing engineering, operations and lean. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Apply lean methods to equipment and material handling designs to reduce waste throughout the production process.
