SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: The Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Product Development Team that has responsibility for development and implementation of production cells which meet quality, cost and delivery objectives that are within budget and on time to project schedules. The Product Development Team works in a collaborative team environment to advance the policy deployed initiative to revitalize the global Kollmorgen product portfolio. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. Specifies and implements manufacturing processes to meet quality, delivery and cost targets Uses DBS tools and lean concepts in development of manufacturing processes and new product development Works with internal and/or external personnel on the specification, design, build and qualification of capital equipment, gauging and tooling Prepares budgets and estimates for capital equipment, gauging, tooling and product cost. Leads or participates in prototyping efforts for development project Creates tooling, fixture and machine designs and drawings using CAD software Completes plant and/or cell level layouts Provides technical input to development teams in the areas of design for manufacturability and manufacturing process development Achieves budgets and project milestones for development projects Leads or participates with a cross functional team to create PFMEA and DFMEA documentation Creates standard work documentation for manufacturing cells Creates manufacturing work instructions and provides operator training and certification Executes development process so that quality, cost, and delivery targets are met Manages Capital Equipment expenditures for development projects Actively monitors new manufacturing technology for potential use in motor manufacturing
