Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering required
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a metal fabrication environment preferred; internships and co-ops considered
  • Experience with laser cutting, CNC fabrication equipment, or sheet‑metal processes
  • Knowledge of fixture design, implementation, and optimization
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
  • Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Desire to work on a variety of projects

Responsibilities

  • Optimize production workflows and support new fabrication technology integration
  • Improve throughput, quality, and consistency using hands‑on metal manufacturing experience
  • Lead process development for laser cutting, forming, welding, and related operations
  • Identify safety risks and implement solutions for a safe, efficient work environment
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean methods, data analysis, and root‑cause problem solving
  • Support fixture design and implementation to improve repeatability and reduce cycle times
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams on technology integration and capital projects
  • Assist with new product introductions and ensure manufacturability in metal fabrication processes
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners across southern Minnesota
  • Contribute to projects that impact communities in Faribault, Northfield, Owatonna, Waseca, and the greater Twin Cities
