Manufacturing Engineer
About The Position
Looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in Palmdale, CA. Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and author manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Leverages understanding of materials and processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Works within a model based engineering environment (3DX). Position requires periodic travel. Must have extensive experience in aerospace manufacturing operations. Must have the personal attributes conducive to work within an IPT (Integrated Product Team). Must have the ability, technical background and confidence to work independently and make critical program decisions. Preferred experience with complete integrated air vehicle designs.
Requirements
- Manufacturing assembly work instruction authoring
- Aircraft sub-systems assembly and integration
- Aircraft structures assembly
- Hands-on production / shop floor support (Direct ownership and support of specific operations as well as interface with touch-labor employees)
- Reviews of engineering technical drawings and models
- Extensive experience in aerospace manufacturing operations
- Personal attributes conducive to work within an IPT (Integrated Product Team)
- Ability, technical background and confidence to work independently and make critical program decisions
Nice To Haves
- PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software proficiency
- On vehicle testing and troubleshooting of aircraft sub-systems
- Jet engine integration, service and maintenance familiarity
- Wire harness and interconnect installation/ integration
- Aircraft fuel systems
- Development/ protype/ first article, program support (new product introduction)
- Metallic part machining working knowledge
- 3DX, Catia V5 and Delmia software usage
- Evaluation of designs with respect to design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) considerations
- Manufacturing assembly planning
- Aviation Maintenance Experience, A & P license or similar
- STEM type degree
- Experience with complete integrated air vehicle designs
