About The Position

Reframe Systems is on a mission to build fast, cost-efficient, and climate-resilient homes for everyone. Through our modular building platform and highly automated production process, we reduce costs, shorten delivery times, and lower embodied carbon for housing projects of all sizes—from single-family homes to large multifamily developments. Our first software-driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA) is just the beginning of our national expansion. Backed by leading venture capital firms in the industrial and construction sectors, we are transforming how homes are built. We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support and scale our microfactory product and the current microfactory systems. This is an engineering role focused on medium-term and long-term factory improvement, through project identification and execution, data analysis, and work cell studies. You’ll work closely with the factory production staff and with other engineering groups, combining hands-on problem solving with clear communication and a high sense of ownership. The ideal candidates are comfortable studying, designing, and building factory and automated workcells; they should also be eager to take initiative in a fast-paced, tech-forward factory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and implement hardware and work cell solutions
• Experience in high and low volume manufacturing skills and concepts, including material movement, line balancing and throughput calculations, safety measures, and other items
• Experience delivering automated or operator-based workcells in high-production environments
• Experience in evaluating and designing factory line layouts
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently to resolve issues
• Proven ability to work hands-on with hardware in a production or industrial setting
• Data-driven approach to decision-making, with the ability to collect, analyze, and act on performance data and user feedback.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in factory facility design and construction and/or home building design and construction
• Experience in implementing projects involving robotic workcells, large gantry workcells, or conveyance of large products
• Experience in factory design for industrialized modular home construction (volumetric, panelized, etc)

Responsibilities

• Identity factory projects centered around throughput and labor time improvements, and execute them in our Reframe microfactories
• Work with vendors, integrators, and contractors to deliver large-scale projects in the factory
• Identify and perform technical factory studies, and document results to inform future projects and company initiatives
• Construct roadmaps for achieving target factory metrics through factory improvements
• Develop factory and work cell layouts based on technical analysis and data-driven insights
• Work together with automation and software engineers to deliver software-integrated workcells, including dashboards, MES capabilities, and sensors
• Build quantitative models of expected work cell and factory performance using first principles
• Benchmark our factory equipment and factory processes against general industry practices and similar tech-motivated construction companies
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical, design, and operational groups on initiatives around future housing project designs and requirements
