About The Position

Lasko Products, an industry leader of home environment products for over 100 years, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for our light manufacturing facility in Franklin, TN. The summer internship will run from mid- May through mid -August. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will have specific project ownership and will collaborate with the cross functional product teams to develop new products as well as improve the performance of existing portfolio of products.

Requirements

  • Pursing or recently graduated with an Engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum classes completed: Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Material Science, Statistics & Experiment/Lab Methodologies
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Word, Power Point, Excel & Outlook)
  • Demonstrated experience with fabricating & testing mechanical or electro-mechanical projects.
  • Experience with 3D modeling (Solid Works, Creo or similar).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong Project Management/Organizational Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Courses in Basic Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Embedded software is a plus
  • Experience with Arduino or PLC controlled systems preferred.
  • Experienced with Bench tools: multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply and soldering Iron preferred.
  • Familiar with Project management tools such as MS Project, Smart Sheets or Jira a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend team meetings and present updates.
  • Creating work instructions
  • Looking at line balancing and product flow
  • Collaborate with team to brainstorm and use decision tools such as Pugh matrix for decision making
  • Participate in design reviews, DMFEAs and other review meetings.
  • Build 3D Models and Assemblies in Solid Works while following Lasko established build practices.
  • Design plastic parts with SPI molding practices.
  • Prepare drawings & STL files for prototyping purposes
  • Support team in fabricating electro-mechanical product samples.
  • Conduct benchmark teardowns and document findings.
  • Prepare Power Point presentations and slides to communicate ideas
  • Create bill of materials and preliminary cost analysis.
