About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports manufacturing engineering activities focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency within plant operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives in a commercial vehicle production environment. The intern will work closely with manufacturing engineers, operations teams, and cross-functional partners to support projects related to process improvement, equipment implementation, and operational performance.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems preferred.
Manufacturing awareness with welding, sheet metal, assembly processes, tolerances is valuable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and ability to work independently and with others.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Assist with manufacturing process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
Support equipment installation, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
Participate in safety, quality, and productivity improvement projects.
Collect and analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities.
Assist with development of standard work, process documentation, and work instructions.
Support plant layout, workflow optimization, and material flow improvements.
Participate in cross-functional project teams with operations and engineering.
Assist with cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform time studies or basic process observations as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Assist in new product development projects.
Explore alternative materials, welding techniques, new joining techniques and new technologies.
Design of electrical components.
Assist in stress analysis on new concepts.
Assist with competitive analysis.
