Apply: https://www.lsijax.com/careers/ General Summary The Manufacturing Engineer II coordinates with the Production Manager, Production Supervisor, and Production Planning team to assist in reviewing production drawings, developing new production processes, verifying capabilities, tracking design changes, and designing tooling and fixturing to support manufacturing and production requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Solid Works.
  • Demonstrates the ability to become knowledgeable of manufacturing and production equipment and reports.
  • Must be knowledgeable of government regulations and specifications.
  • Practices good business etiquette in oral and written communications.
  • Must have knowledge of various fabrication and assembly, including metal machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Must have creativity, innovation, commitment to excellence, and the ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving skills, devotion to quality, and team-building skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred or any related engineering degree or equivalent, and two (2) years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related engineering discipline; or High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related engineering discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of industry and military specifications for materials, parts, and processes preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, preferred.
  • Knowledge of 3D scanning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Attends engineering design reviews to verify design requirements against manufacturing and production department capabilities and identify drawing information needed to manufacture parts.
  • Develops material, tolerance, finish, and inspection capabilities.
  • Designs and develops tooling and fixtures needed to support the manufacturing of new designs.
  • Coordinates with the engineering department to design and develop tooling and equipment required for Acceptance Test Procedures, or other testing requirements for product acceptance.
  • Coordinates with the design engineer to disposition non-conformance materials, parts, and hardware.
  • Provides feedback to engineering on recurring trends/issues based on non-conformances and changes.
  • Assists manufacturing and production in dispositioning drawing redlines.
  • Participates in change reviews as a member of the Change Control Board.
  • Assists in modifying, developing, and maintaining manufacturing and production procedures.
  • Enters redlines and tracks them using Bugzilla software.
  • Processes engineering change notices for manufacturing and production departments.
  • Assists the Production Manager in conducting process improvement analysis in the manufacturing and production department.
  • Reviews .dxf and .step files for accuracy prior to issuing work orders.
  • Develops work instructions to clarify work orders, as required.
  • Layouts and designs machine files in MasterCam, Solidworks, or SolidCam as required.
  • Develops new manufacturing capabilities to suit new designs.
  • Mentors junior engineers.
  • Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials.
  • Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support sourcing and outsourcing options for parts and materials.
  • Attend new business proposal meetings as directed.
