About The Position

V2X is growing! V2X is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! Principle duties will include development, review, and validation of production routings and work instructions, and Bills of Material (BOMs) to facilitate production operations. Production Operations may range from metal fabrication processes at the component-level to very large parent-level assembly builds. Furthermore, assignments may include supporting ongoing production or preparing for new product launches. Additionally, this role will also contribute directly to process improvement (CI Kaizen Teams); safety; design and development of Tooling, Fixturing, and other assets as needed; and provide direct support to manufacturing, quality, and design engineering teams. This role is very hands-on and the operating environment will be a hybrid between office and factory floor operating environments.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in an industrial machining and metal fabrication environment—including CNC machining and turning of parts from billet and cast material
  • 2-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in a sheet metal fabrication operations such as cutting of sheet metal using shears, punches, and lasers; forming of sheet metal parts using press brakes and/or stamping presses—and mechanical assembly operations with basic familiarity with metals’ material properties.
  • Experience in technical writing and development of detailed work instructions for assembly and rework operations, including experience researching, interpreting, and translating industrial standards or specifications from engineering drawings into work instructions for a production team.
  • Experience using 3D CAD programs (PTC Creo preferred) to create production drawings from model.
  • Familiarity with and ASME Y14- series standards (including Y14.5 GD&T) and experience reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
  • Training or Education in the Design of Tooling, Fixturing, Jigs, and support structures for assembly operations
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) principles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills (linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to pass a criminal background check (active possession or eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance preferred

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 Years programming CNC machining equipment (preferably exp. with Mazak and ______)
  • 2-5 Years as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in industrial assembly operations
  • 3-5 years of experience as an engineer in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environment (experience in AS9100 aerospace manufacturing a plus)
  • Experience using ERP platforms to generate production routings and Bills of Material (BOM)—SAP S/4HANA preferred.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes and Quality Processes (preferably as they align with AS9100 or IEEE 15288)
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.43 (Gage Tolerancing)
  • Experience using PDM suites (Windchill preferred) to manage production process documents
  • Familiarity with National Industry Standards such as ASME, ASTM, SAE standards, and MIL-STDs in regards to fabrication, assembly, and testing procedures and requirements (Ability to Reference, Interpret, and integrate into detailed work instructions)
  • Experience serving on Kaizen or Tiger teams for Continuous Improvement or OPEX, and experience developing Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
