About The Position

Eaton is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering – Fabrication to lead optimization efforts that support our Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies (PDCA) and Commercial Products and Assemblies (CPA) businesses. The role will be located in Charlotte, NC; El Paso, TX; Arden, NC; or Greenwood, SC. Relocation assistance is available. A Hybrid work model is available (3 onsite/2 remote). Travel between 25-50% will be required. Reporting to the Manufacturing Strategy Leader, this subject matter expert role is responsible for coordination and management of manufacturing engineering activities in fabrication areas (Copper Bus and Steel Fab. Painting). The position provides technical guidance to enhance, implement, and innovate processes and technologies that drive product quality, operational efficiency, and support strategic initiatives. In this role you will: Develop and design capacity planning models for optimized loading and improved equipment utilization. Support sites to evaluate existing equipment and tooling for safety, capacity, capability and efficiency optimization. Develop detailed technical specifications for new equipment and management of capital projects. Develop standards for optimized workflow, material handling and workplace layout. Support sites with new product launch and process validation. Work with design engineering to help incorporate design for manufacturing elements into product development. Provide training, guidance and technical support to site manufacturing personnel which may include mfg. engineers, technicians and line operators Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Pro Launch through the creation of Process Maps, Standard Work, Takt Times, Potential Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Control Plans, and Job Safety Analysis for production lines. Make vs buy analysis for part cost and quality optimization. Work with sites to generate maintenance and technology roadmaps to sustain and improve equipment efficiency. Support EQS initiatives with particular focus on PFMEA and Control plans. Support development of standard work and work center instructions for all related fabrication processes. Work with sites on equipment maintenance and investment roadmaps to optimize capital and expenses.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering and/or plant operations
  • Strong background in Metal transformation: Stamping, Laser/punch, Bending process and technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a complex manufacturing setting that produces variable, complex or engineered-to-order products
  • Background in metal pre-treatment and finishing
  • LEAN Six Sigma Yellow or Black belt certification
