About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer - Equipment Maintenance & Additive Manufacturing supports production operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving additive manufacturing and related production equipment. This role is highly hands-on and focused on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and day-to-day technical support, enabling senior engineers to focus on process optimization, automation strategy, and product development. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure stable equipment performance, consistent output, and timely resolution of equipment-related issues impacting production, quality, or throughput.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
  • Experience maintaining and supporting industrial or production 3D printing equipment
  • Comfort working directly on complex, highly technical machinery
  • Ability to document work clearly and communicate findings to engineering and operations teams
  • Practical, detail-oriented problem-solving approach
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment and respond to equipment issues as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred OR equivalent hands-on manufacturing and equipment experience
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance, reliability, or additive manufacturing

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated environments preferred
  • Experience with industrial or production-scale 3D printers preferred
  • CAD experience and basic design-for-manufacturing knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of industrial and production-scale 3D printing and manufacturing equipment
  • Support printer setup, changeovers, validation runs, and recovery from print failures
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify trends related to uptime, yield, and quality
  • Assist with printer capacity planning and readiness as production demand changes
  • Execute and improve preventive maintenance schedules for additive and supporting equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related equipment issues
  • Document maintenance procedures, failure modes, and corrective actions
  • Escalate systemic or recurring issues to senior engineering staff with clear technical findings
  • Support investigation of customer complaints and internal quality issues related to printing or equipment performance
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Work with Quality to ensure equipment and processes meet regulatory and internal requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and technician workflows
  • Support implementation of incremental process improvements under guidance of senior engineers
  • Contribute data, observations, and recommendations to engineering reviews and planning discussions
  • Follow and support all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around production equipment
